Aug 20, I have been a conspiracy theorist since the second game and have believed that the core people who were responsible for Combat Evolved had nothing to do with the other Halo games. But after finishing Halo 4, I am convinced they have been found and work for now. The way the architecture is designed and rendered in Halo 4 is exactly what I would have imagined a real sequel to Combat Evolved would be like. The story is also cinematic and has some degree of genuine storytelling rather than b-movie one-liners.
There is just so much in the game that borrows from the mythology that I can’t help but think they truly care about the franchise.

Thu Sep 08, 8: They’re certainly sharp and clear, with very little pixelation or funky curve rendering. If that’s the extent of what 4K is supposed to be, then they did it very well and deserve kudos for that. But I do have a quibble about the overall amount of detail – or rather the lack of it. Granted, these are static images, so much of the “action” that may make it pop isn’t there. But my biggest draw to even TRY a game is that it looks detailed and lush. I give high marks for realism, even if they don’t get it “right” all the time.
This, well, doesn’t look real. It may be that it’s never supposed to, which is fine for others, but not much of a draw for me. I’m also assuming 4K is “life-like”, which none of these images even remotely approach well, except for that space shot which looks really good. For the most part, the little details that turn a graphic into “real life” – the stains, wear, unique patterns, etc.
My first impression of the first shot was that it looked like a well drawn water color. A nice one, but not “life-like”. Maybe it was capped badly.

Unfortunately Halo 4 -> Halo: MCC launch period really sorta squelched a lot of people’s enthusiasm toward the franchise to lukewarm. I got my external drive so I can move the rest of my digital content off the drive and install the beta (actually needed 10 more gb) and then I’ll give it a go too.
It was also cool to see i go back to the roots of Halo 2 by having a second main character in the campaign. Unfortunately at release, it all fell apart. The problems with Halo 5’s campaign fall under two categories, the gameplay and the story, with the latter being the worse of the two. In Halo 5 Guardians, you have access to squad commands, this is where the person playing as Locke or Chief can command his AI allies to move to position, to attack a target, pick up a weapon, or to revive a fallen teammate.
The problem with this though is that the AI do not respond to threats and only follow the specific orders. For example, if you get downed, you can call an ally to revive you. Most of the time, they won’t sprint towards you and they won’t avoid hostile fire. They’re very slow and very very stupid but this can avoided if you do coop. There are a number of problems however with the story itself. The first is that the Master Chief is not a main character of Halo 5 Guardians.
If we consider Locke and Chief as main characters, they should both have an equal amount of game time. Out of the 12 actual gameplay misssions 15 total but 3 are just walk around cutscenes for Osiris , only a 4th of the game has Blue Team involved. I feel like i wanted to replace the Master Chief which is very hard to do.

Across the board, Halo weapons follow some general rules of similarity. For this reason, when you get the visual indicator to pick up another Covenant weapon that you are already holding, you should probably switch it out for a weapon with more ammo. Needlers are the exception. Automatic Covenant weapons will overheat and stop shooting if their fire is not controlled by the user and given breaks. UNSC automatic weapons, on the other hand, can be much more precise and the bullet spray more controlled if sharp, short bursts are used as well.
Covenant weapons, being weapons of energy, take down shields faster. Once shields are down, UNSC weapons do a great job of finishing the enemy off.
